WWII training film. No two jungles are exactly alike, but the basic principles of survival are the same in all jungles. In this film the crew of a B-25 bomber is forced to parachute into the jungle. The pilot, who has not prepared himself for survival in the jungle, bails out after his crew and lands some distance away. The four crewmen break out their jungle survival kits, examine each item in the kit, and begin using what's around them to survive. At the same time the ill-prepared pilot's situation goes from bad to worse to critical. The crew locates the crashed bomber, uses items from the plane to signal a C-47 search plane, and locates a native village. But they don't know if the villagers will make a feast for them or make a feast of them! The many survival techniques explained in this film are as useful today as they were in the jungles of WWII. 59 minutes. PERSONAL HEALTH IN THE JUNGLE The jungle is full of insects as well as enemy soldiers, and these insects can be far more deadly. Flies, centipedes, scorpions, and leeches can be problems, but these are minor league. The one you've got to be on the lookout for is ANNIE, short for Anopheles mosquito. Sometimes there are ten times more casualties from mosquitoes than from combat. How to protect yourself is critical, and the First Aid Jungle Kit M-2 is the first line of defense. Each item in the kit is explained and techniques for disease prevention, such as digging and then covering "straddle trenches" in latrines in camp and "cat holes" when you are alone is discussed. 14 minutes. 2 films, 73 minutes.
