This film chronicles Canada's determined effort to transform itself from a country with a meager military and limited production capability to a major player in the Allied struggle to defeat the Axis powers. During the 1,000 days Canada developed the largest machine gun factory in the world and made the first Bren guns. During the 1,000 days 250,000 Canadian soldiers crossed the Atlantic Ocean without the loss of a single man, the Navy grew from fifteen to 500 ships, the Army grew to over 500,000, the Air Force from 4,000 to 120,000 and industry expanded its workforce by forty times.
